Robbie Austin USA — 1971
Robbie Austin °1971
Robbie Austian is an American artist and teacher, a father, and a husband – though that order fluctuates regularly as he proclaims. He works from a a 100-year-old house, in the town where he was born, and teaches at the high school of Louisiana “bookends” which he considers his pilgrimage. CalArts outfitted his art and philosophy. UCLA cultivated it. He has exhibited from Los Angeles to New York, Houston to Frankfurt, and several places in between. Robbie's work is exploring color, line, form, and pattern. Each wall-mounted drawing is created on found field book paper and carefully assembled in a three-dimensional open-faced frame. "Robbie's work is at once engaging, imposing even, and yet oddly withdrawn and sectrative".
