Harry Wade °1995

Harry Wade (born 1995) is an emerging abstract artist based in Cornwall, UK. He graduated in 2021 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Fine Art from Falmouth University and is currently represented by Art UntamedMorgans Gallery, and Troze Contemporary Art. Harry Wade: "My practices explores the sublime, along with themes such as time, mindfulness, and self discovery. I’m also an avid surfer and the sport often informs my thinking. The explosive turning and carving, when surfing down a wave, mirror and speak of the flow-state I find essential to my process. As with surfing, painting appears to me as a dance of surrender and control. Not all manoeuvres are possible on all waves, not all colours, marks, or shapes, are possible on all paintings. There is a necessary reading of how things unfold and appear, in the moment, that leads to the right end result. It isn’t theoretical, but rather instinctual and raw. Theory is more something I deal with in retrospect. I direct it towards what I end up doing, and what that doing achieves. I try not to let it seep into the act of painting, where I want a clear mind - almost empty, in fact. If all goes to plan, there is the same level of ‘embedded-ness’ and presence, inherent to every brushstroke, as there is in every turn I make when surfing" (source: Morgans Gallery and Harry Wade)
